Three Homegrown Brands Reflect On Singapore's Evolving Fashion Scene
“Our Barehands formally started back in 2019 when the three of us, Chanel, Germaine, and Mitchell were working on a sustainable coffee farming business in Myanmar. As part of the project, we connected our network of resources to help local youths by training and providing meaningful employment for them — yet, at the same time, spotlighting the beautiful people behind the exceptionally-grown local coffee.
As many of the farmers had mothers and sisters who were excellent craft artisans, we thought to ourselves – why not transform whole communities by working with both agriculture and artisanal craft communities? When we finally met the craft artisans, we immediately fell in love with their skill and their life stories, yet many were unseen and unrecognised. That was the start of our journey with Our Barehands.
